March was full of rain but also a great escape to LA in the middle of the month.

Highlights include:

  • a new haircut! I never get haircuts so this was fun.
  • Mike started making smoothies & they are great!
  • way too many dress options for my debut as MOH at my BFF’s wedding this coming weekend. BCBG was my favorite spot to try on in store. The winner ended up being a Rent The Runway stunner.
  • a work trip to LA for the #NTCTOUR
  • a boho baja bridal shower for my work wife in LA. It was perfection!

Better late than never… Feb in review:

  • A beautiful snowy long weekend!
  • Lots of quality time with Annabella, my favorite girl ever.
  • A visit from my college girlfriends: fine dining & a make up tutorial
  • A team snowboarding adventure at work.
  • Finally used our Pizza Maker- it is a complete life changer!

Since our move in on Christmas Eve the kitchen is the one room that we have put the most work into and was also the one that needed the most love. The before’s speak for themselves and the afters are a mix of DIY and pinterest inspiration. For reference the before photos are sprinkled in.

January where did you come from and where did you go?
Highlights include:

  • a trip to the coast to visit Mitch & Ken
  • accomplishing quite a few home projects
  • the super rewarding task of making our house a home

December is more and more becoming a month full of places to go and people to see. My December was full of fun parties with really good people and of course delicious food and drinks.

One thing about Christmas that I love are my family’s Christmas traditions. This year my Ma started a new one- using my niece to create some really fun Elf on the Shelf photos for instagram.

Other Christmas favorites include: my parent’s annual Posada party, our semi-formal Christmas eve dinner at my Aunt’s house in Laurelhurst- this year marked 29 years of her hosting the glorious dinner, Christmas day at my parent’s house and our traditional tamale dinner, and of course our secret santa exchange with the cousins. This year I scored adorable vintage water glasses from my cousin Juan.

Another exciting December event is that we finally moved into our new house. My Christmas wish was that we would be there by Christmas and it just worked out that our first night in the house was Christmas Eve.

One of the perks of my job is traveling with some of my favorite people. The first week in December we had a team trip to Palm Springs- sounds heavenly right??? It was actually an average of 50 degrees each day. But the scenery and people made up for the low temps. Highlights were of course team bonding and on the last morning visiting the Parker Hotel and having some quality time with two of my favorites: Elaine & Meredith.

One thing I have learned about myself is that I really enjoy entertaining. When we lived in the condo I had an annual cookie party with girlfriends in December. We would all decorate and exchange cookies while drinking hot apple cider. It was not the most glamourous of gatherings but it was an excuse to get together and be festive. Since moving out of the condo and being in our weird housing limbo I have been looking for a reason to host a party.

Thanksgiving weekend provided the perfect opportunity. Some of my best and brightest were in town and Mike’s parent’s large empty house provided the prime location. The menu was easy and delicious, it was a potluck brunch so each girl was able to show off her talents: quiches, champagne, mango juice, salads and baked french toast.

Can’t wait to do it again, but this time at the new house! Thanks for joining girls.

November has my most favorite holiday- Thanksgiving. We had an early Thanksgiving break and headed down to Mexico to holiday with the McGraths. We traveled Thanksgiving day back home to Portland just in time to celebrate the holiday with my family out at the farm.

Additional November highlights include:

  • a super fun personal shopping rewards day at Nordstrom
  • night bridge runs
  • exploring Guadalajara
  • discovering THE BEST fish tacos in San Pancho
  • quality time with loved ones during the Thanksgiving holiday

I always dreamt of being a bailarina folklorico when I was little. It was so wonderful to stumble upon this beautiful performance last night. #mexico #bailefolklorico #GDL (at Guadalajara)

October was absolutely beautiful this year. At least 4 times a week I would step outside, be greeted by sunshine, smile and think to myself ‘this is the most beautiful day ever’!

Now it is November and it has rained every day since… On the upside the holidays are coming really fast and this weather begs for us to be cozy inside with good food and good company. So it is a fair trade off.

Some highlights from the month include:

  • Travel to SF with my work wives for the 10th Nike Women’s Marathon.
  • Nerding out with Google glass & resident beautiful nerd Ashley
  • Discovering the awesome cuisine of Carte Blanche- new favorite cart which happens to be 4 doors down from our new house. The flavors will truly impress you.
  • Hitting up my little brother and sister’s last regular season XC meet- Dita killed it this year- 9th at state!!!
  • Pumpkin patching with my niece Annabella.
  • A Friday night dedicated to really really good drinks & hospitality at the Woodsman Tavern.
  • Halloween!!! I was a Goth Mermaid.

September truly flew by! It was not a great one for photos, but it was jam packed, again, with work travel that had me hitting Santa Barbara, Seattle, New York and LA. I am home for most of the month and have a few September highlights to share:

  • We bought a house in our favorite neighborhood!
  • Wrapped another shoot in Santa Barbara with our crew.
  • Seahawks v 49-ers Game at Century Link field with thunder & lightening too.
  • Lots of good meals in NYC, Venice & Santa Barbara.
  • And of course DISNEYLAND- see previous post.

Yesterday Mike and I had the chance to spend the day at Disneyland! My cousin Carlos works for ABC and was able to help us out with tickets- thank you Carlos! Mike had not been to disney since he was little- six years old or something, I was last at Disney maybe ten years ago with my family. I am a really big fan of the Disney amusement parks, so I was really happy to get the chance to expose Mike to all he has missed out on or forgotten the past 22 years.

image

We started the day at California Adventure park, favorites being California Screamin & Tower of Terror. We got a ‘celebrity spot’ by seeing Mad Men actress Kiernan Shipka who plays Sally Draper.

image

The rest of the day was spent at Disneyland meeting the characters and exploring it all! My legs are so sore from trekking what felt like miles around the park and my voice is a little hoarse from going crazy on the rides.

One of our three times on Splash Mountain. Lines after 9pm were nonexistent so we got to ride it without even getting out of the ride.

All in all a super fun Sunday!

August was legit. Mike and I got hitched on my uncle’s farm at our own perfect little hippie inspired fiesta. See more pics here: http://statigr.am/tag/mikeyly/

In addition to getting married I had a two week stay-cation which was super duper nice. Once my two weeks were up I was thrown into two weeks of photo and video shooting with Mike’s agency so we got a quasi-honeymoon with our favorite work friends in NYC, Austin & LA.

Now it is September and I am already layering up in boots, chambray and vests to disguise my summer dresses.
